Functional registry description
ICANN's New gTLD Program was approved on June 20, 2011.
The application window for new gTLDs will be open from January 12 to April 12, 2012. The initial evaluation of the new gTLD applications will be published in November 2012. It is expected that the first new gTLDs will be available for registration in 2013. The application fee in USD will be a six-figure number.
Please note: The next application window will be opened after at least 3 to 5 years after this first launch period. Now it's the right time to apply!

Technical description
The design of the system follows state of the art architecture rules. The complete design is based on a 3-tier architecture which gives you a maximum of security. The modular structure of the system gives you the possibility of cost-effective upscaling. Thus, a growing number of customers and domains will not be a problem.
The system is setup as a high-availability solution. The main components are organized as a cluster with a minimum of 2 servers. The backups of the system are distributed over 2 geographically diverse locations. Our own data center provides us with full control and access as well as with fast responses to problems.
Here are some more technical features:- Whois cluster cloud with SLA of 99,9% (excluding scheduled down times for maintenance) updated in real-time
- DNS anycast cluster cloud based in different geographical locations (SLA 99,9%) updated in near real-time (currently 2 in Europe, one in the USA, additional locations available on demand)
- 3x redundant 10 GBs connection with dark fibre TIER 3+ secured hosting facility with up-time monitoring and 24/7 support
- Backup system located in Frankfurt

Functional registry description
- EPP 1.0 interface for all the registry domain operations. The interface is built accordingly to the following RFCs 4930, RFC 4931, RFC 4932, RFC 4933, RFC 4934, RFC 3735
- Web API to configure and manage all registry operations such as:
- creating and modifying registrars
- possibility to create sub registrars for registrars
- real-time account monitoring & statistics (i.e. reports on distribution and usage of domain names and registrars)
- low balance notifications
- ftp account for reporting
- creating and modifying different prices and price scales
- customizable billing and invoicing, capable of handling all currencies supported by the ECB
- per account definable currencies
- access control list which allows account permissions for individual users, i.e. users with read-only access
- whitelabel user interface for registry operator and registrar
- customizable whois server output
- blacklist functionality for restricted or reserved domain names
- command limitations (amount) per registrar
- Different access methods are available on request
